Spring Term 3a – Mud, Mess and Mixtures
Our Big Question is: How do things change when we mix them together?
This half-term the focus of our topic is to encourage learners to develop their curiosity and investigation skills by engaging in a range of colour and mixing investigations. Learners will explore different matters and materials that can be mixed together and what happens.
Learners will:
· share their own ideas about what they want to investigate and explore.
· make predictions about what they think will happen when different materials are mixed.
· test their predictions through a number of different investigations and experiments.
· identify, follow and sequence patterns.
· observe and describe the ways in which materials change when they are mixed together.
· follow instructions to make a potion.
· consider what happens when we don’t follow the correct steps in a recipe.
· mix primary colours to challenge ourselves to make a range of different colours.
· make art work inspired by Jackson Pollock
· plan a science fair to showcase the range of experiments we have enjoyed.
· make a mess by mixing different natural materials outside.
This half-term we will also:
· continue to enjoy gymnastics and sports
· enjoy practising for sport’s day
· celebrate Holi and Eid
