Mums and Chums started sometime after ‘Dads and Lads’, responding to our Mums request to get involved!  So we now run successful sessions for Mums and girls.  Similarly to Dads and Lads, the focus is on developing Literacy Skills.  Our young learners are encouraged to work alongside female adults, including; Mums, big sisters, Nanas and Aunties.

The sessions are coordinated in the following way:

• Autumn Term: Year 2
• Spring Term: Year 1
• Summer Term: Nursery and Reception

During these sessions the 'Mums and Chums' take part in a variety of activities including,

• Factual Writing - Remembering and recording fire safety rules
• Reading Comprehension activities - ‘Who am I?’ riddles
• Poetry - Using natural art to stimulate ideas for poems
• Den building
• Fire lighting
• Creative activities
• And lots more!!
