Ysgol Glan Gele is a Trauma Informed school. All the staff have undertaken training to support children who have experienced trauma. The Trauma Informed Approach ensures relationship is at the heart of every interaction and supports the whole school community including our pupils, parent(s)/carers, staff and all other agencies working with Ysgol Glan Gele. We strongly believe that by identifying the barriers to learning, we can provide an inspiring and relevant curriculum that considers the whole child and provides the necessary support for pupils to achieve, develop and reach their true potential.

By engaging in this approach, we aim to ensure that all our pupils develop positive mental health and resilience, enabling them to fully engage in life and learning. The school delivers support and courses for parents and children. You can access ‘Inside Out’ (promoting positive mental health in parents and children) and Family Learning which includes sessions where you will work alongside your child accessing aspects of the curriculum. We also offer sessions or parents and carers in conjunction with the Abergele Family Centre. We have a dedicated family Liaison Assistant, Jess Jones, who will be happy to meet with you to discuss any concerns or worries you may have and can signpost you to services/agencies which can offer help and support.
