On behalf of all the Staff and Governors, I would like to welcome you to the Ysgol Glan Gele website.

Ysgol Glan Gele is a Nursery and Infant school which serves the thriving market town of Abergele. We provide Foundation Phase Education for children from the ages of 3 to 7. We believe that this is an important phase in their learning journey and is at the centre of their future development. We are a busy school but pride ourselves on the quality of teaching, learning, and high expectations for all.

‘Gorau cam, cam cyntaf’ are special words that recognise the importance of a quality Foundation Phase Education.

At Ysgol Glan Gele we work very hard to make our school a creative, happy place for your child to flourish and grow. We aim to deliver experiential learning that develops all their skills and equips them for life in the twenty-first century and the next stage in their education.

The Four Purposes of the new curriculum guide how we deliver education in Ysgol Glan Gele. By the end of their education, we hope our pupils will be -

* Ambitious, capable learners who are ready to learn throughout their lives.

* Healthy, confident individuals who are ready to lead happy fulfilling lives.

* Ethically, informed individuals who are ready to be citizens of Abergele, Wales and the world.

*Enterprising, creative contributors who are ready to play a full part in life and in work.

The school is known within Abergele for its warm and friendly family atmosphere where children feel valued and secure.

Our school motto is:

‘Happy and secure as we all learn together’

We provide additional support for pupils who are more and less able. We are an inclusive school and work with other local schools and agencies to ensure the highest standard of provision for all our pupils. Your child’s talents and achievements are as important to us as they are to you. They are celebrated by the whole school community at every opportunity, in class or during assemblies.

We recognise the partnership between home and school is a vital one and we appreciate parents, carers and the community in Abergele working together with us. We have an active Parents' Forum which was established in 2007. We endeavour to support our pupils to grow into valuable citizens of Abergele.

We welcome any expertise or assistance you may be able to offer us in delivering the best possible opportunities for our pupils.

If you would like to come and join us by helping out in classes or supporting the PTA (Friends of Glan Gele Infants - FOGGI) in their fundraising events we would be pleased to see you. They have FOGGI coffee mornings every half term, meeting to plan and discuss fundraising events such as school discos. You will find the dates of these coffee mornings in our weekly newsletter.
