Welcome to the Caterpillars Class Page!

The Caterpillars Class is a Nursery class and we currently have 22 pupils. We like to have lots of fun and learn a range of new skills every day.

School starts at 8:45am so please make sure you arrive at school on time! Pick up time is at 11:15am.

Here is some important information that you may find helpful...

  • Snack - You are encouraged to send a piece of fruit in for snack with your child every day. If you send your child in with grapes, please ensure they are cut in half, lengthways. The children will be given milk/water at snack time but please feel free to send in a bottle of water that they can drink it throughout the school day.
  • PE - Our PE sessions will take place every Friday. The PE day may change so please keep an eye on Seesaw and this page for updates! Please ensure that your child arrives at school wearing their PE kit. They can wear a t-shirt, jacket and shorts or jogging bottoms for their PE sessions.
  • Share Sessions - Our share sessions take place every Wednesday 11:15am-11:30am. Please feel free to pop in for a chat if you have any questions or concerns.
  • Forest/Beach School - The children will access outdoor sessions throughout the year. I will notify you when these will take place!

 

Over the School Year, we will cover a variety of topics to develop our skills and knowledge. We will have the opportunity to go on trips to enrich our learning experiences.

Term 3a

This half term we are learning all about what we can find in a garden. During the topic, we will be…

·      Learning about minibeasts.

·      Listening to lots of stories including The Very Hungry Caterpillar and learning to retell them.

·      We will be making a fruity snack for the hungry caterpillar

·      We will be planting seeds, taking care of plants, flowers and watching them grow.

·      Learning about the life cycle of butterflies and frogs

·      We will be exploring the outdoor areas around the school

·      We will be raising our own caterpillars and hope to see them turn into butterflies.

·      Preparing for the school Sports Day, practising our running skills

·      Exploring Numicon shapes

·      Learning the sound of the week

·      Enjoying number songs, rhymes and stories

·      Responding to: Sawl un? Sut wyt ti? and pa siap?

as well as lots of other fun activities

Term 2a

'My Home'

Our big questions are:

Over the next 5 weeks we will be learning all about 'My Home' 

Our story the first week back is 'Stick Man' and we will be completing lots of exciting activities such as creating a family photo frame using natural materials, measuring sticks using cubes, mark making with sticks and creating a Stick Man family.
